The PuterTutor's Classroom Website

Welcome!

My name is Jim, the comPuter Tutor.  I am retired military and have taught and tutored in college, company, high school, and online environments. I have lots of technical experience in various areas such as avionics, navigation, electrical, electronics, computers, telephony (yup, that's a real word), networks, web design, safety, management, instructional design, and training. I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's in Education, both summa cum laude. I have both the A+ and the Network+ CompTIA© certifications.  I am an authorized Oracle© Instructor and a Microsoft© Academy Instructor. I have state certifications in two states and currently teach in my high school's NAF© Academy of Information Technology.

In my last school/state I maintained my own web site for all of my courses, so I'm looking at returning to that method of course management.

My goal is to have all courses ready for the 2016-17 school year, at least the first semester's worth any how.   I cannot promise any non-passworded courses this school year, as it looks like I'll be spending most of my summer making this site ready for my enrolled high school students.  I also do not plan to have any 'contact us' information available at the beginning.  This may change at any time, so keep checking back.

Philosophy:

"… bear in mind that the wonderful things that you learn in your schools are the work of many generations, produced by enthusiastic effort and infinite labor in every country of the world. All this is put into your hands as your inheritance in order that you may receive it, honor it, and add to it, and one day faithfully hand it on to your children - Albert Einstein

I believe I have been blessed with much education, training, and experience from a myriad of sources including textbooks, correspondence courses, MOOC courses, technical schools, military schools, college courses, on-the-job training, and self study.  I take none of my education lightly; I appreciate it, I respect it, I honor it, and I apply it.  I know that each textbook, lesson, laboratory experiment, job assignment and group exercise I experienced were the product of many hours of research, thought, dedication, and personal effort of many people before me.  I have been given much and I believe it is now my duty to “honor it, add to it, and faithfully pass it on ” to the next generation of eager students.

Oh, by the way . . .

*If a course is blocked/password protected, it usually means that either the course uses proprietary material (that I'm not allowed to make available to the general public) or it means that it's an active course that has specific (enrolled) students.  Over time, I will attempt to create non-blocked versions which use only my material.
